Proverbs 31 vs 28-29
“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.”

I went to bed waaaaay too late last night and now it’s Friday morning and I’m exhausted. My daughter has to catch an early school bus and so does my middle son Nehemiah. After I drop them off it’s a race to the sabbath sundown clock. My husband is recovering from a bad cold, 3 out of 4 kids have the sniffles, I need to get gas, need to get last minute items for the sabbath, and cook a large after sabbath meal for the congregation and my own household. Meatloaf, mac and cheese and curried string beans are on the menu. Everything is finished, as I watch the sun set from my kitchen window.
Grateful that another Sabbath has begun.
After sabbath service my son Nathanyel tells me his throat is little sore so I suggest having some tea and a good nights’ rest. He was excited about a college trip coming up on Sunday to NYC and after his planned schedule he intended to take public transportation by himself for the first time to visit his grandparents in Brooklyn. Sunday comes and I’m a bit of a nervous wreck as I talk him through the ins and outs of the transit system praying that he remembers my advice and directions. I’m proud that he’s becoming a responsible young man. Praise the Heavenly Father everything went well and he called to say when he arrived and when he was leaving. The Feast of Tabernacles was about to begin at sundown so his grandfather drops him off at the train station. Happy for the visit and some love he meets up with a family in the faith to take the trip to the Bronx to join us for service (thanks to the House of Sister Maria).

Nehemiah is sick too, but he has a test tomorrow that he must pass or be grounded because we don’t do bad grades in this house and it’s not an option. Nasayah has a quiz, it’s getting late and nobody wants to go to bed! Tuesday arrives and I’m up early again as the cycle repeats itself. After dinner Neme gives me papers and homework to review that is done all wrong!
We are up until midnight fixing the problems and studying. He was not understanding the math at all so I have to spend hrs. helping him and teaching him old school math tricks plus a note to the teacher as an intervention. Sysy is up late because she has a power point presentation due on Wednesday.
Wednesday rolls in and the same sleepy cycle begins. It’s 10 a.m. and my oldest son calls to say that there is an outbreak of the flu on campus and that his instructor had to send students home and he is not feeling well either, but doesn’t want to go to the doctor…just like his father.
At 12:14 p.m. in the afternoon my daughter calls me from the school phone saying that her Social Studies teacher did not receive her report via e-mail and she needs me to go print a copy and bring it to her before her class or she loses 20 pts. off her grade upfront and I realize that I have only one hour to do that! I do the mad dash to the Office Depot and grab a cup of coffee then drive to her school. When I get to the main office her class has just started and they call her to the office. She sees me and her face lights up as she tells everybody how awesome her mom is and how much she loves me. We exchange hugs and kisses and then she heads back off to her class. That special moment alone was worth not getting any sleep and you know what I am awesome!!!
Thursday is open house at Nasayahs’ school and its’ pouring rain. I hate driving in the rain but I gotta go because she needs to get to school early to get community service credit. So at 5:15 p.m., before I leave I explain to Nehemiah that he has to complete a written report that is due on Friday and that he needs to clean up the rough draft and rewrite a neat clean report.
Meanwhile back at the open house the meetings with my daughter’s teachers went well with good reports from all her teachers…the benefits of being in an honours’ class. But the highlight of the evening was a discussion with her music teacher Mr. Lamb.
He asked me if Nasayah was adopted and I asked why would you ask that. He was curious because her last name had changed.
No adoption papers Sir since the entire family’s last name has been legally changed to “Israel” thank you.
He offered to have all her honour certificates changed to reflect her “adopted name” Lol!
We leave round 8:30 p.m. and I make a pit stop at Wal-Mart for some frozen pasta so that I don’t have to cook when I get home. In the door by nine and as the pasta hits the pan and I ask Nehemiah to show me his finished written report.

He didn’t even start it and has been playing video games since I left! The corporal punishment has begun and I am beyond furious. I kiss my lord and shalom him and he doesn’t say a word as I render a brown belt like a samurai master. We were up until a little past 1 a.m. and my son and I were tired and began making all types of mistakes until I saw in the fine print of the teachers outline that stated that as long as she had all the written rough drafts and the intial concepts stapled together plus the sign off by the supervising parent the final report could be TYPED!!!!
I quickly typed it up and sent it to my e-mail and Office Depot’s e-mail to print it out in the morning…Good night!
Friday morning comes and the first alarm clock at 5:30 a.m. sounds. for the vicious cycle to start again and I’m so tired. I have to be at the bus stop by 6:20am the latest and Office Depot does not open until 7:30am! I awake Nehemiah so he can be ready and figured I’ll get the report and come back in time to catch the school bus at 8:25 a.m. I am in the parking lot of Office Depot by 7:15 a.m. with a cup of coffee from the mall McDonald’s. Before I can take my first sip the manager knocks on the car window and hands me two free copies and I thought all praises!!!
Nehemiah catches the school bus and I’m off to do my errands. I needed to schedule a doctors appointment for my oldest son before I forget and we needed ink for the printer!
Nehemiah got a 94% on his test!!! Neme, Noah, Nasayah, and my husband are all feeling better but I’m exhausted.
I will be so happy when the sabbath comes.
What a week I’m having! My back hurts and I just got my period.

Proverbs 31 vs 10
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”

OMG! My head hurts with all this running around lol. Captivity just sucks! 🙁
Love it!!! Love it!!!
Now you are what I would call a S-U-P-E-R mom. Great read ,loved it. Oh how I remember those days :-).
Thanks for the compliment, that was just a snapshot of one week and there was stuff left out!!! I am looking forward to sharing the stories of other Israelite sisters, because it just shows we are just women keeping the laws in Christ with modern day concerns and live regular lives in this world just like our foremothers did. I am simply in awe of how strong the Most High made the women of this nation….thru several captivities with literal chains to the modern day plantations of this world…we are tougher and stronger than even we know….imagine how much more so, in righteousness when we get our minds right!!!
Much love,
Your sister in Christ,
Shamarah
