The Butterflies Diary
Entry #12
Fallen Butterfly
Matthew 10 vs. 29-32…
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing ? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are numbered. Fear not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

On M
onday, November 15, 2012, I discovered 4 Caterpillars’ on my daughter’s fresh bunch of Cauliflower. I took them home in a jar filled with grass, wood chips and a stick. The next evening, they had grown bigger and half the Cauliflower had been eaten away. The evening after that, they had cocooned. So, I switched to a larger container with more grass and a bigger stick.
Three evenings later, we walked into the house to find two of them on the patio door, one dying on the patio ledge (probably from hitting its’ wings against the blinds), and the last had turned black and died within the cocoon. So, I opened the blinds and let the other two out, and the both of them flew into the kitchen and disappeared.
The next morning, one had begun to fly upstairs, so my son took him in his palms and placed him on the cut up pumpkin that he had in his room, where he nurtured him with sunlight, pumpkin and much love. The other one was not found until two days later (his wing had gotten caught under the dish detergent as I was setting the bottle down after they had flown into the kitchen and got lost).

Days later Little Pumpkin Head ended up dying (probably from too much pumpkin), which hurt me more than hurt my son. I sat back and thought about the whole situation involving the butterflies and how they made me feel.
Then it hit me!
The story of the butterflies reminded me of the Parable of the Sower:
Matthew 22:1-14 & Matthew 13:3-8.
Matthew 13 ….
vs 3…And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying , Behold, a sower went forth to sow
vs 4…And when he sowed, some seeds went by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
vs 5…Some fell on stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth
vs 6…And when the sun was up, they were scorched, and because they had no root, they withered away
vs 7…And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
vs 8… But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirty-fold
They helped me to see the scriptures come to life before my very eyes, and to realize my goal in my walk with Christ Jesus. They were also a sign that the True and Living Almighty God is with me always and helping me to understand the Word, so that I can use wisdom to make the right choices in my daily life. Bless the Most High in Christ Jesus.
Shalom!
