Homemade Carpet Cleaner

Homemade Carpet Cleaner

1) Test on a small area before using on the entire carpet
2) As with any cleaner, you should avoid all contact with the eyes and prolonged contact with the skin

Homemade Spot Remover

1.)  White Baking Soda Paste Remover

[green-flower]
  • Mix white vinegar and baking soda together to form a paste. Then, work the paste into the carpet stain with an old toothbrush, or something similar. Allow the paste to dry; then vacuum up the baking soda, and the stain should be gone.
  • Note: Some stains may need to be treated more than once.

2.)  Vinegar Remover

This is a great spot cleaner. Mix one cup white vinegar and one cup warm water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture directly on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a damp cloth to rub out the stain and the vinegar.
If that doesn’t get the stain out, try this:

3.) Borax Remover

Mix everything to make a paste . Use your fingertips to rub it into carpet and leave for a few hours. Vacuum over it several times to get everything up

[green-flower]
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 1/4 cup borax
  • 1/4 cup vinegar

Homemade Natural Carpet Shampoo/Cleaner For Carpet Cleaning Machines

1.) Back to the Basics

[green-flower]
  • In 1½ quarts of hot (NOT boiling) water
  • ¼ cup of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (it’s the regular hydrogen peroxide that you can get at any store)
  • 1½ Tablespoons of White Vinegar
  • 1½ Tablespoons of Dish Soap (we use Seventh Generation and it worked great)
  • About 5 drops of your favorite essential oil(s) – either just one or a combination. Lemon and lavender are great!
[/green-flower]

Mix all of the ingredients together (be sure to add the dish soap to the water and not the water to the dish soap – you’ll see why if you do it the wrong way just once)
Pour into your carpet cleaning machine.
Clean like the directions tell you to.

2.) Deep Cleaning Power

When you are ready to give your carpets a good steam cleaning, try this solution.

[green-flower]
  • 1/4 cup lemon-scented ammonia
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons dish washing soap
  • a little less than 1 gallon hot water
[/green-flower]

3.) Keep it Simple

Fill the machine with equal parts white vinegar and warm water; then, clean according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
