Stop using scented soaps and body washes for vagina– Opt for plain or mild, unscented soap and wash gently with lots of warm (not hot) water. Stop using fragrant body washes and soaps. It is best to use a mild soap with warm water. Soaps that are too harsh or have too many chemicals and fragrances can actually make your vagina produce more discharge that gives off the foul smell.

Avoid pads and panty liners. You want vaginal discharge to be wicked away from your body, not held close next to it by items like panty liners and pads. Use these only when you need them and absolutely do not use scented products (as these can throw off your body’s natural balance). Some time ladies wearing no under garments allows air to reach your vaginal area eliminating odor.

Make sure you aren’t putting any soap too close to your vagina. You can use soap to clean your pubic hair, but try to keep it away from your vagina. Soap of any kind can throw off the delicate balance of your body
Here is the golden rule for washing Vagina with soap:

You must always make sure that the soap NEVER gets into your vaginal hole. How is that possible? You ask! It’s easy and it’s what you should do. Just wash the vaginal area with plain warm or cold water and then apply a tiny bit of mild, unscented and sensitive soap or bath lotion on the surrounding parts of the vagina [the upper part mostly] and wash it off with plain water right away. Do this while you’re standing up as this is the best way to prevent the soapy liquid from entering into your vaginal hole. Once again, this is to avoid disturbing the happy and natural Ph balanced environment of the vagina. You don’t have to worry much about the soap entering when washing the anal area.

Stop taking hot baths or showers. This can kill your body’s natural bacteria. Try taking cooler baths or showers to see if it helps reduce your vaginal odor. Doing this step alone will probably not help you, however, so make sure to take a few other suggestions as well. Avoids extremely hot showers is better for maintain elasticity in your skin anyways.

You’re only making things worse. Douching is very bad because it can alter the balance of healthy bacteria in your vagina, causing other bacteria to grow and create a foul vaginal odor. You should douche ONLY if asked to by a doctor or gynecologist.

Eat yogurt. Yogurt that contains live cultures adds probiotics, or good bacteria, into your body. This can reverse the problem if you have a mild case or a yeast infection that is just starting out, and acts as a great preventative measure if you start doing it before the problem develops.

[clear/][shape-button text=”Trim Your Public Hair” color=”green” /]

residential-hedge-trimmingLadies you have to be the barber for your vagina long pubic hairs contributes to the bad odor of your vagina.I know shaving pubic hair is not every woman’s cup of tea but if you’re suffering from vaginal odor or any other types of vaginal infections(yeast infections etc.), getting rid of those unwanted hairs will surely help. Hair Removal lotions are available for sensitive areas, and work great for avoiding razor bumps.

If you just can’t cope up with shaving it at all, trim it at least and keep the pubic hair as short and barely visible as possible.

Having too much pubic hair causes dirt and moisture to store up in the skin layers around your vagina which will then invite harmful fungi/bacteria to grow and cause infections. This is another reason why you maybe experiencing the bad odor in your vagina. Pubic hair during menstruation will make the smell even worse because period already has its own smell and having thick/long pubic hairs will contribute more by storing the dirt/moisture for long.

  1. What would be an appropriate soap to use for this?

    • Shalom Sis mhncbu! In all honesty soap should be used at a minimum inside of the vagina(meaning between lips ) Water will do just fine this is because soap kills bacteria. Bacteria is needed “down below ” to maintain a healthy pH balance which. When your vaginal pH becomes unbalanced, odor-causing microorganisms can flourish causing vaginal odor and discomfort, so when it comes to the “girl down below” too much soap causes bad odor. Cleaning the flesh outside with a light soaps like Summer Eve, Non-soap face wash (i.e cetaphil, CeraVe..etc), baby soap or non scented sensitive skin soaps will do wonders. Remember to use soap to clean during menstrual cycles. Hope this Helps!

    • I use Johnson’s baby wash to bath in

  2. This was very informative, all praises Sister.

  3. Oh my word!!! This is very informative!!! I love this site!!! All Praises to the Most High in Christ Blessed!

  4. This information is soooo good for women and children to know. I love how you Israelite women touch on topics like this gently and wholeheartedly. I am going to share a lot of this information with my girlfriends. Mainly the ones who have no mother around to tell them important things like this.

I have a close friend who has a rare diseases called TMAU or Trimethylaminuria. Its a liver disorder that causes her to smell bad even after taking showers and doing clean hygienic routines. Eating raw doesnt even really take away the smell but lessens it (if that makes sense). TMAU is an Orphaned disease. Or in other words, doctors do not care about the disease enough to want to find a cure for this rare disorder. So my friend is stuck trying to find a cure for herself. It kills me to see her struggle with relationships, work, and life because she can’t stand the humiliation and ridicule from people who don’t understand her pain. I honestly think she feels defeated and suicidal because the products she has tried before worked for a little bit and then failed.

Im going to suggest all of the things you mentioned above and see if it will help her. And even if it doesn’t, I’ll continue to support her as you do when on the blog. Thank you for blogs. You are helping women become Ladies:)
