Leviticus 20 vs 25

Ye shall  therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean; and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean……

I consider myself a decent cook, not to fancy…..but mostly edible and presentable that the most hungry and starved for a good meal won’t go running and screaming from the dining room table or head first into the nearest toilet. However its time to step it up a notch, so from time to time we will be presenting recipes and videos of easy, affordable dishes along with unleavened bread recipes,  & simple  etiquette that can easily be achieved by your basic kitchen novice.

One of my  sons is attending culinary school, complete with  monogrammed uniforms and a fancy master chefs hat. All of us are the masters of the feast in our daily lives I find it interesting that Culinary 101, is about the basics…..cleanliness,…. not only physical but spiritual in our lives for example it would be the dietary law as the foundation…. hygiene , good set of pots and knives, being prepared with all your ingredients , but mostly the love of the art of cooking along with the satisfaction of enjoying the company of others with a good meal

Apocrypha Sirah 32 vs 1,2 If thou be made master (of a feast) lift not thyself up, but be among then as one of the rest; take diligent care for them, and so sit down. And when thou hast done all thy office, take thy place, that thou mayest be merry with them, and recieve a crown for thy well ordering of the feast.

What can I eat ?  What foods are forbidden?

I like to keep it simple….as I get more information , and research we will share/ update…

[one-fourth] [image src=”http://www.staging-mar252018.thedaughtersofsarah.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/animals-clean110.jpg” class=”-img border”/] [/one-fourth]

Deuteronomy 14 vs 4-6 these are the beasts ye shall eat; ox, the sheep, and the goat, The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois. And every beast that parteth the hoof, andcleaveth the cleft into two claws, and chewth the cud, amongst the beasts, that ye SHALL eat.

Dueteronomyy 14 vs 7,8 Nevertheless these  ye shall NOT eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney; for they cheweth the cud, but divide NOT the hoof; therefore they are unclean to you, and the swine, because it divideth  the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean to you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase

So far on your grocery list under “beasts” or red meat  you can include...Beef, Buffalo, Deer, Goat, Lamb, and Sheep…..say no to rabbit &  the swine is so foul…..don’t even touch it (pig )in the supermarket.

Deuteronomy 14 vs 21 Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mothers’ milk.….( veal )

Dictionary.com
veala calf raised for its meat, usually a milk fed animal less than # months old

Free Dictionary.com
veala calf raised to be slaughtered for food

Upon visiting my sons culinary campus the cafeteria had an array of food, and I wanted fish so I loaded up my plate to sit down,,,,before I could take one bite …we are at the table looking up the name of the fish on my blackberry and  googling facts via an iPhone, it is so important to know what is edible via the dietary law, always check….when in doubt , throw it out….a little research can make a difference

Deuteronomy 14 vs 9
these ye shall eat of all that are in the waters; all that have fins and scales shall ye eat. And what soever hath not fins and scales ye may NOT eat; it is unclean to you

[one-fourth] [image src=”http://www.staging-mar252018.thedaughtersofsarah.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/lobster-crab-shrimp-foods-that-damage-your-skin-on-kamdora.com-Kamdora.jpg” class=”-img border”/] [/one-fourth]

Leviticus 11 vs 10-12
and all that have NOT fins and scales in  the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters they shall be an ABOMINATION unto you; they shall be  even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of thier flesh, but ye shall have thier carcasses in abomination. hatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the aters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

So shrimp, scallops, lobsters, catfish squid, snails,,,,,,CANNOT be on the menu

Next we have  fish  you can add on our grocery list…..Bass, Codfish,Flounder,Herring, Mackeral, Tuna , Sardines, Salmon ,Trout, Tilapia and Snapper

Deuteronomy 14 vs 11of all the clean birds  ye shall eat

[one-fourth] [image src=”http://www.staging-mar252018.thedaughtersofsarah.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/pea.jpg” class=”-img border”/] [/one-fourth]

Last year during a trip to the Bronx Zoo,..they allowed the male peacocks to walk around….they are huge majestic birds that don’t fly but as large as a toddler….My husband loves to watch birds in the sky as they get in formation, as the eagles circle the sky looking for prey, and the awesomeness of a vulture devouring a dead carcase on the side of the highway. The Lord has created so many beautiful birds, but they are for our viewing pleasure and to restore balance, and not to be eaten.

Leviticus 11 vs 20all fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you

Deut 14 vs 12- 20But these are they  of which ye shall NOT eat; the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, and the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind, and every raven after his kind, and the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, the little owl, and the great owl, and the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant, and the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten. But of all clean fowls ye may eat.

You may add  these “fowl or birds ” to your grocery cart….chicken, turkey, pheasant,  and pigeon

Can we eat creeping things?  Yes , we can !

Mark 1 vs 6and John was clothed in camels hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locus and wild honey;

The thought kinda “creeps ‘ me out but certain insects are indeed biblically qualified to be edible. In fact in some parts of the world “insects” are the number one source of protein for its inhabitants. You can purchase insects on line, and in some cases harvest them yourselves…

(yuck i’m about to throw up….just visited a website called girl meets bugs  she gives a list of edible bugs throughout the world, lets just say The Most High has a dietary law for a reason )

[one-fourth] [image src=”http://www.staging-mar252018.thedaughtersofsarah.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/grasshopper.jpg” class=”-img border”/] [/one-fourth]

Leviticus 11 vs 21-23-yet these may ye eat of every  flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs ABOVE thier feet, to leap withal upon the earth; EVEN THESE of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and  the grasshopper after his kind. But ALL OTHER flying creeping things, which have four feet shall be an abomination unto you

May your shopping trips be lawful, and nutritional, and cost effective….

Dedicated to my son Gaba, a future Master of the Feast…we eagerly await your expertise as the nation grows

Love Mom….

Shamarah.

Greetings sisters, I am definately interested in vegetarian meals. I have been a vegetarian for about 2 months now and my goal is to become vegan I was vegan for about a two week period, but becoming just plain bored with it I went vegetarian again. Thank you Sister Shamarah this article it was very informative and this section of the site is beautiful, scratch that, the entire site is beautiful. I will visit often Lord will. Shalom Sisters.

  4. Eliana Yisrael says:

Are we supposed to eat catfish or no? My aunt who introduced me to the laws says we are not supposed to eat it. I don’t like it one way or another but i’m curious. It has fins and scales I think lol hmmm

    • Deut 14 vs 10….and whatsoever hath not fins AND scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

Google search…..catfish, various types, polliwogs, bullhead, blue catfish are bottom feeders ( scavengers ), and mostly half of all types live in the Americas
Catfish do not have scales, rendering them unclean or unedible….

      Peace

  5. Aaaaawww this was beautiful “…future Master of the Feast…”…my eyes started watering lol I’m corny. This was helpful and informative as always.

  6. I’m in culinary school so I am always cooking at home. Keeping the law is fine and dandy but it became confusing at Deut 14 v 21. You explained above that God means to say we cant eat veal? OR is it that I cant have meat and dairy together? Like… a cheeseburger or chicken and ranch dressing? I’ve been trying my hardest to separate the two until I received an answer from a trusted source. Rather safe than sorry.

    Thank you.

    • Deut 14 vs 21…
Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself, thou shalt give it to the stranger that is in in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it to an alien; for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God. Thou shalt NOT seethe a kid in his mothers milk.

      Shalom sis,
In our various lands of captivities and the way that food produce is shipped around the world….yes the food is defiled, and given to us despite the efforts of many industries to keep it decent and safe….thus resulting in sickness and disease. That is why we are being sold meat from farms of animals that are quite often in horrible conditions and who knows how and under what circumstances they have died. Even for those who ar non- meat eaters and vegans, pesticides and other forms of contaminations are equally as poisonous. As for veal, they are breeding and slaughtering young calfs for the sole purpose of producing soft and tender meat for the consumer…..these calfs are virtually newborns STILL NURSING or SEETHING on thier mothers milk, so no you cannot eat veal it is against dietary law.

      Ezekiel 4 vs 13…
And the Lord said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat thier defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them.

In terms of seperation of milk and meat, that is a tradition of men set up by converts, so-called jews (jew-ish people)….consider the following scripture

      Genesis 18 vs 8…
And he ( Abraham )took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them under the tree , and they did eat.

Cheeseburgers, chicken with ranch dressing and a salad can be on the menu!!!

Happy eating…enjoy your lawful meals, and well wishes in culinary school ,
      Peace , Shamarah

      • THANK YOU SO MUCH! I guess with me having not received my 1611 bible yet, its very easy to be confused with simple words being changed. THANK YOU SO MUCH THOUGH. I love my questions being answered. 🙂

  7. Is it better to buy food from the Kosher sections? Like the meats. If I pick up a regular bag of Tyson Chicken, is it not lawful?

  8. Aleeza Israel says:

I also google manufacturer’s website to find out what is in their food products, even for items like Tic Tacs and pudding mixes, etc. Thank you for a great article. MHNCB.
